The Two Old Dolfans delve into win over the Bills. They compare Ryan to Allen, and argue over the future of the latter. As the season comes into the final act, our hosts bare no bones about where they think the team is going and start in on what they’d like to see happen. But it ain’t over until the “fat man” sings (pardon the reference). There’s still the Patriots, and the Vikings, and the Jags, and the Buffalo Allens again. Bellicheat is coming to town.

Scott and Alex are back after eating multiple turkeys. They are impressed by Leonte Carroo’s 74 yard average. They are not so impressed by Tannehill’s 4th quarter rating. Both jump on Gase, again, and toll the funeral bell. They give Rizzi a 20 year contract. Good Alonso, bad Alonso. Howard is the man, but he hit the wrong guy in the endzone. Rookie TE, 1 target, 1 catch, 1 fumble. Please, Lord, no more bubble screens (fat chance). Punting is boring, but these two aren’t. At least to themselves. But what about Buffalo?

In what the Old Dolfans planned to be a short podcast, our hosts found time to belabor some points. If you are offended by the truth, if you love Tannebaum and Gase, prepare to be schooled. The funeral bell, Alex, and Scott urge Ross to hit the reset button and usher them out of Miami at seasons end. Statistics and sarcasm, humor and fact, and accumulated football knowledge pile the poo as high as we dare make it this week without going out of bounds. Social media gets some attention. The boys elect Rizzi for an important office. Shout out to some people in the media as well as other podcasters, even our least favorite dude gets a positive mention.

In Episode 14, Alex and Scott celebrate the win over the Jets in typical sarcastic old man fashion. Cameron Wakes up! Baker outscores both teams, the rook gets much love. Gore vs. Drake. What the hell happened with Jones? Our offense is offensive and shared statistics highlight the fact. Tight End talk. Who gets the MVP from our old man text circle? (It’s funny). Scott wants to toll the bell, but keeps his promise. As the Dolphins prepare for heading to the frozen tundra, our hosts discuss what they think will happen there.

It’s lucky episode 13. It’s in the hinterlands between the Texans and Jets. Scott and Alex are pissed, and of course, the bell tolls again. Ross needs to wake up, adopt an agile mindset, and fail faster if he wants to live to see a winner. No more passing the ball on 3rd or fourth and short. No action at the trade deadline is good – who wants another bad Tannenbaum move to haunt our next management team? More London games is nothing we want. Alex says touchdown a lot. Good luck fixing the defense over the weekend. Only one of us thinks we will beat the lousy Jets.

Alex and Scott get to the (post) Lions game podcast during Game 1 of the World Series. For the first time in their personal history, Scott and Alex sit on opposing benches. From the Dolphins game – Brock plays OK, but the defense ghosted us. The boys get after Gase. Tired of running on 3rd and ten and passing on 3rd and one, and even more tired of the bubble screen, both lament the suffering our fandom brings for the last twenty years. Invisible men, missing persons, a herd of walking dead fill the IR sheet. We create a short, obvious game plan to have any chance of beating the Texans on Thursday, but doubt that our Dolphins HC will listen, or that the lines will be able to execute. Stephen Ross needs to act. The bell tolls again.

In the 11th Two Old Dolphins podcast, Alex and Scott are back together discussing the Bears game at length. Alex talks about his trip to Columbia. Scott mentions hanging with dolphins on Saturday. Gase gives good press conferences, but frustrates us with bubble screens and 5 wide sets in the wrong sitrep. But he did find the running game. At least one of them finally worked. Our ‘Phins are 4-2 with an improbable win! Wilson is the man. Brock’s one-up is pocket presence. Hits, fumbles, picks, body slams. Our o-line stuns us. Gore just keeps going. Kiko is playing balls out. How will we do against the Lions? Listen to hear our predictions.

In our newest podcast, Alex is out of the country on travel so in violation of the grumpy old man policy, Two Old Dolfans welcomes a UM Alumni and Millennial: Alejandro. Scott puts on his “Agile Coach” hat and gives some life advice to young Dolfans. The countdown to the end of the Gase / Tannehill era begins. The Bell Tolls. Our hosts analyze the Bengals game and talk about why other Old Dolfans in our circle said “I’ve never felt worse about a Dolphins team with a winning record.” Alejandro believes that the Dolphins will beat the Bears, listen to hear why. He professes his love of Jakeem. Scott tips his hat to Rizzi and Westhoff. Adam Gase must have listened to part of our podcast, because he took our advice on one topic.

The challenge for the Dolphins was New England in Foxboro. The challenge for our hosts is to find as many positive things to talk about from that debacle as possible. They give a shout out to finheaven.com where there was some listener engagement last week. The boys focus on how the Dolphins can rebound and improve. Alex’s has an original thought that Armando published first. Scott is a tiny bit smug about the predictions he made back in July when they recorded S1E3. They discuss injuries, a surprise cut, and the next opponent: the Cincinnati Bengals.

Scott hears another podcast and it triggers an old memory. He and Alex tie their experience of witnessing a fight between a Dolphin and a Charger in the Jimmy Johnson era to the story on this week’s episode of The Fish Tank podcast. Our hosts break down the victory over the Chuckies, then delve into injuries and the state of the team. They discuss they keys to victory against the Patriots, make their picks, and have some fun with the various power polls.
